THE HEART
A few year ago I decided to sell off the majority of my astronomy equipment and start a fresh with a new set up. I’m so glad I did. and now I have the amazing ZWO asiair pro, a redact 51 with the new celestron AVX mount.

Orion's nebula imaged from Kidland in Northumberland
Shooting star through the constellation of Ursa Major from Kielder 25th Nov 2017
NLC's over Northumberland 2nd of July 2017. The best display I've ever seen.
Planet Venus in all her glory with a 37.5 illuminated crescent
Recent image along Hadrian's Wall in Northumberland (U.K)
My first picture of Andromeda Galaxy (M31) with M110 galaxy
Using a Nikon 800e camera this shot has really brought out the the quality, showing stunning details of the structure and colour of the galaxy. It really has produced a great picture using a full frame DSLR.
- 59 x 2min exposures (118mins exp time)
- ISO 2000
- PixInsight and photoshop CC processing
- Skywatcher 130pds telescope
- Tracked using a Celestron VX mount.
Looking back on 2016 - My journey to the stars
My 2016 astrophotography year book poster 2016
This past year for me has been absolutely fantastic. We've had some good skies but mostly cloudy ones. However looking back, I've seen some spectacular views of the night sky and was able to photograph them.
These include the best "Northern Light's" display on Mother's Day at Kielder forest in March. The transit of planet Mercury across the Sun the day after my birthday (9th May). A 22degree Moon halo at Cawfields Quarry, Northumberland. Not to forget a transit of IO pass over planet Jupiter and in the process I captured the shadow of IO on Jupiter. I had so many amazing Moon shots (sadly I couldn't include them all). While on holiday in the south of Belgium, I could see the Milky Way. Even with all that light pollution.
And
I was able to photographed some very nice deep sky objects with a modded Canon DSLR. Two targets were the Flaming Star and the Heart and soul nebular. In September, I got given a full frame Nikon 800e camera. So photographed the Andromeda galaxy for the first time. I was in awe at the final post edited photograph.
I can't wait for 2017 to continue my journey to the stars.
